Childcare has the contract to support all
Early Years Group providers (from the Private,
Voluntary and Independent sectors) in Devon
as well as the contract to support all registered
childminders in Devon. We aim to support;
raise the profile and raise quality of Early
Years groups by: |
|
- Allocating
each group their own dedicated Trio Childcare
Development Worker (CDW)
-
Providing training workshops, called Roles
& Responsibilities, which gives committee
members of voluntary run pre-schools lots
of advice and information about their
role in managing the setting. This includes
information about constitutions; finance;
budgeting; staff management; administration
and the roles of each individual on the
committee including the officers
-
Completing a minimum of one annual Welfare
Requirements support visit to every Early
Years group setting - where the CDW offers
advice, information, signposting and support
in meeting the Welfare Requirements of
the Early Years Foundation Stage framework

Completing a minimum of one annual Financial
Health Check visit to each Voluntary run
pre-school where the CDW offers support
with financial sustainability; budgeting;
business plans and funding

Facilitating (in certain areas only) Nursery
Managers Forums where the managers have
the opportunity to “air & share”,
network and discuss new initiatives/issues

Contributing to the Devon
Newsletter which is available termly
to every Early Years Group provider

Signposting to the Workforce
Development Directory to support groups
in meeting the qualification/training
requirements and raising quality of care
in their setting
-
Attending Devon County Council meetings
both local and county-wide for professionals
with a remit to support and advise Early
Years groups
- Representing
the Early Years providers on the Devon
Education Forum and associated forums
-
Work closely with other teams including
the Registration & Inspection support
team; the Early Years advisory team and
DISC (Devon Information on Services for
Children)
